PHOTOVOICE PROJECT

The Photovoice Project combines the art of photography with advocacy, providing youth a platform to share their perspectives and drive awareness around the impact of alcohol and other drugs in their community.

WEEKS 1-2

Youth learn the basics of photography, building skills to capture meaningful moments in their communities.

WEEKS 3-4

Participants focus on capturing their final image while crafting a written explanation that tells the story behind the photo.

After completing their work, the photos are printed on canvases and showcased at a Photovoice Exhibit, where youth can share their stories with family, friends, and community members. This event encourages open dialogue about the importance of creating a healthier, drug-free environment.

STICKER SHOCK ACTIVITY

Raising Awareness Against Underage Drinking

Our team also conducts in-person, single-session presentations on the risks associated with alcohol, marijuana, inhalants, prescription drugs, and fentanyl. These sessions equip students with refusal strategies and introduce local community resources for further support.

The stickers, which are designed by the youth themselves, feature powerful messages that remind store owners and shoppers of the legal and health risks associated with underage drinking. This activity serves as a visual deterrent and conversation starter, encouraging community-wide responsibility in reducing alcohol access to youth.

By engaging in Sticker Shock, young people become active participants in promoting a safer, healthier community, while directly addressing the issue of underage drinking in their own neighborhoods.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT

Our team actively participates in and hosts informational booths at a wide range of local events, including resource fairs, health fairs, National Night Out, and more. These events are an essential part of our mission to engage with the community, raise awareness, and provide educational resources. Through these efforts, we aim to promote substance abuse prevention and foster a stronger, healthier community.
